This will be the most historic WrestleMania ever!
WrestleMania 36 is just over a week away: Christmas for all wrestling fans is just around the corner!
This time, however, it will be like celebrating Christmas without dinner, with empty gift packages and with very sad artificial snow. Does it really make sense?
There has been much controversy surrounding the development of this WrestleMania, which (like any other major public event) has been affected by the unfavorable virus that has been affecting our lives for weeks: some argue that it is better to postpone it, others may not have really be contested.
However, only a few are satisfied with the McMahon Association’s decision: to contest Mania on set dates, but behind closed doors.
In a nutshell, The show must go onbeyond everything and everyone. But will this show deserve its name?
Will such a special edition of Wrestlemania be historical and especially pleasant for us fans?
The news most feared by those who follow the WWE has finally arrived last week: WrestleMania 36 will take place behind closed doors due to the health emergency we are experiencing worldwide.
This fact alone makes this edition worthy of being mentioned in wrestling books as one of the most historic, if not the most historic. Never before has a mania been played behind closed doors without the very important WWE universe, and nobody could have imagined that we would have seen such a show.
No matter how hard you try, I encourage everyone to find a positive side in this element. Closed doors have only negative aspects that speak against the success of the event. Of course, this choice was mandatory, WWE couldn’t do anything else and really wanted to follow the original plans without postponing the main event.
Closed doors initially mean that nobody will experience WrestleMania live: there will be no audience! As trivial as this observation may be, the consequences are catastrophic. The presence and participation of live viewers is crucial for a wrestling show: if you don’t think so, you should maybe watch the latest episodes of Raw and SmackDown, which also take place without an audience. The damage done to some promos that are excellent in themselves (I’m thinking of Aj Styles and Rollins’ speeches) is unpredictable.
The WWE universe is the beating heart of every show, it is both the center and the frame of the canvas that was painted in the ring by the athletes. It is the indescribable atmosphere that arises from the choirs, the gut reactions and the interaction of the wrestlers with their supporters the whole meeting.
It really hurts to think of a Drew McIntyre who could lift the WWE champion’s belt to the sky, the most prestigious in complete silence on the lonely tones of his theme song. And this is just one example: Can you imagine the end of the Undertaker series without the reaction of the audience?
So the most critical aspect of the closed door element is this: will the athletes in the ring and the creative team behind the scenes succeed in creating WrestleMania moments worthy of this event despite the serious lack of audience?
Do we remember this issue for what will happen in the ring and not just for the extraordinary circumstances surrounding it?
Now difficult to answer, we postpone the question until we have already seen WrestleMania.
This WrestleMania was originally relocated to a single location that corresponded to the Orlando Performance Center, a location where the stars of the Federation were trained and trained. WWE then decided to use multiple locations to record the event for purely organizational reasons. This choice also helps to make this WrestleMania historic and very special and brings with it both positive and negative aspects.
The solution was dictated by necessity: To comply with government guidelines against the epidemic, WWE could not bring together more than fifty people to produce mania, and of course such a reduced crew could never meet the needs of the federal government. For this reason, it was decided to use several locations to host the eventto employ more staff and more athletes. Despite these measures, WWE has removed the two Battle Royals that we have been used to since the thirtieth edition, as they would bring too many athletes into contact in the ring at the same time.
Moving a larger number of locations during the show could reduce the boredom factor for us viewers. In times of crisis like this one is content with little to break the monotony of a mania without the public.
Unfortunately, the association of the closed doors and the fact that the event is divided into several buildings (small buildings and not large stadiums) will cause the association to sacrifice a characteristic and characteristic element of WrestleMania: the internship. Let’s not expect a big and spectacular stage this year. Not because it is not possible in a building: some past editions that took place indoors still had a remarkable internship. However, the time factor must also be taken into account. The association would have little time to prepare an alternative internship that could be placed in a narrower context, such as that of the performance center or similar.
Could you still do it Naturally! Will he really make it? We’ll see it soon.
We can understand the objections of those who are thinking about the internship last year, which, despite all the opportunities in the world to develop and be spectacular, turned out to be a bare and banal big screen.
Another novelty compared to previous years is that WrestleMania is not even broadcast live. Given the critical conditions in the United States, it is very likely that WWE will be unable to work and produce its shows in a few days. So get ready for fans who may be going through a time without wrestling.
If we combine this element with the ever increasing risk that a Federation wrestler will become infected with the virus that would cut off every TV show and therefore WrestleMania, we can understand the decision of the Federation leaders to register the showcase of the Immortals . This allows wrestlers to stay in their homes as quickly as possible and avoid shifts to protect their health. Despite the recordings, we would like to make it clear that WrestleMania will continue to air on the scheduled dates, with the exception of a not too minor change, which we will discuss shortly.
So we’re going to have a pre-recorded wrestlemania, and a week before the broadcast, many fans expressed their doubts about the danger of encountering unpleasant spoilers from the event. Well, it seems that this risk is actually very low, as WWE has invited every operator and wrestler involved in the production of the show to maintain the maximum reserve for the latter. Revealed in the times of the Internet and the constant progress of various insider This might seem like an impossible achievement, but the limited number of people involved in the project could really allow the association not to spill a result. This is surely what we all enthusiasts hope for, because keeping at least the surprise for the outcome and progress of the games is crucial for life with transportation such a bizarre mania.
If you think about it, the reception could also be positive in this case: the games could be packaged better in order to possibly avoid some mistakes that would not go unnoticed in life; By recording the pre-broadcast event, WWE can also offer interesting solutions to some disputes. A certain production is already rumored online for the match between Bray Wyatt and John Cena, with a TV-like cut that follows after the House of Horrors match or the Ultimate Deletion Match.
If this were true, a match proposed under this guise could be a breath of fresh air on the map and break the monotony of matches without an audience, as this lack would not be felt in such a clash.
This brings us to the last point of novelty that will undoubtedly make this WrestleMania historical and unusual: the event is not proposed as usual on a single evening, but the card games are divided into two different evenings: exactly the night of the 4th and that of April 5th. We still don’t know exactly how the meetings will be divided and which ones will take place on Saturday or Sunday. The only certainty is that this choice is the most puzzling and difficult to assess, given the parameters of the pros and cons.
On a positive note, the WWE can propose a large number of games in this way despite the emergency. Proposing 8 hours of closed shows to the public in a single day would probably have exhausted the boredom. Instead, if you divide the weight of the card through the support of two different evenings, you get more entertainment and less attention to the audience.
After all, anyone who has seen even one of the last editions of WrestleMania live from Italy, i.e. only in night vision that lasts until the first light of the morning, will know how difficult it is to maintain attention, especially during the games that are not exactly inevitable. Now imagine how difficult it could be to do it with a show without an audience, without choirs and in a surreal atmosphere.
So this was the analysis of the elements that will characterize this particular WrestleMania 36. Still, we can be sure that this issue will go down in history in one way or another. The only caveats that are only resolved at the end of the show are the entertainment and the quality of the show. But aren’t these the usual questions you have for any type of wrestling event?
I would now like to end the article with a personal thought that violates every journalistic rule, including amateur rules.
I would like to invite you to see WrestleMania at the company this year: The vision shared with friends of a show like Mania is always recommended. Let us be clear, but never like this particular edition. Despite all the things that will be missing in this WrestleMania, the best solution is to share the experience in the company of other fans in order to have fun and not feel the ghost weight of the show that it could and could not have been.
Let us keep our passion together, because despite everything and everyone, given the impure virus, this is always OUR WrestleMania, our Christmas party.
Good WrestleMania to all guys!
