AEW PREDICTIONS: Double or Nothing 2020
Friends of Spazio Wrestling, welcome back to this new edition of AEW PREDICTIONS! After many weeks of waiting we are finally there, tomorrow the “WrestleMania” of All Elite Wrestling will be broadcast: I am referring of course to Double or Nothing. The company made its debut with this PPV last year and was a complete success. This year with all of them Tony Khan, who had difficulty with the case due to COVID-19, did his utmost to ensure that the show could still take place without the fans. The hype is there and how, so without any other twist, I would say that we can start with our predictions:
Buy In: Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent) vs. Private party (Isaiah Cassidy & Marc Queen)
Analysis: Let’s start with the only tag team match on the map. This meeting will take place in the buy-in (pre-show) and I think there are few doubts about who will win: During this period of COVID-19, the best friends were always present at Dynamite and have shown their worth, therefore I believe that the AEW should give him recognition and thus an opportunity for the pair titles. The management of private parties has so far left something to be desired. I hope that the company will rely on them a lot more in the future.
Winner: Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent)
MJF vs. Jungle boy
Analysis: With all the good, I want Jungle Boy, but after beating Cody, I think MJF deserved a much more important match in Double or Nothing. At a meeting that doesn’t tell me anything, MJF will win and I hope they’ll put it in more prestigious contexts. This guy is talented and can become the face of the AEW.
Britt Baker vs. Kris Statlander
Analysis: It will be necessary to understand whether Britt’s conditions will allow her to fight. I have a lot of doubts, but if the match takes place, it will be she who wins. His character is very interesting, after this win he could win the title and maybe even win it.
Winner: Britt Baker
Dustin Rhodes vs. Shawn Spears
Analysis: Another game that tastes of filler in every way, but I’ll tell you: I have a lot of doubts about who will win between the two. Dustin is a veteran and has given birth to many boys in the past few months. Shawn has a desperate need to win because let’s be clear: if he loses this time too, he can jump overboard (obviously kidding). It could be a good match, but in the end I think Dustin can be happy again and who knows if he can’t send Shawn Spears over there.
Winner: Shawn Spears
Casino ladder match for a future AEW World Championship match: Colt Cabana vs. Darby Allin vs. Frankie Kazarian vs. Kip Sabian vs. Luchasaurus vs. Orange Cassidy Vs. Rey Fenix vs. Scorpio Sky vs. TBA
Analysis: Darby Allin or the mysterious competitor. Without a doubt, I think they’re the favorites for this crackling casino ladder match. In view of the superstars who will take part, it could easily be the “show stealer” of the evening: With Darby Allin, Rey Fenix, Colt Cabana, Orange Cassidy and Scorpio Sky there will be many incredible spots, but let’s not forget Luchasaurus too, of course , Frankie Kazarian and Kip Sabian, three exceptional artists. However, I have a lot of hype to find out who the mysterious competitor will be: a debut? a return? Who knows, the fact is that with this step AEW made the match even more interesting than it already was. Darby Allin is the favorite because the participants have been announced as mentioned above. I think he will win, send him against Jon Moxley and for the maximum title he could further strengthen his status.
Winner: Darby Allin
Stadium Stampede Game: Matt Hardy & The Elite (Adam Page, Kenny Omega, Matt and Nick Jackson) vs. The inner circle (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Ortiz, Santana and Sammy Guevara)
Analysis: Another highlight of the Double or Nothing card is this Stadium Stampede game. I think it will be something like WrestleMania’s Boneyard match, obviously with completely different contexts. There will certainly be more wrestling and less cinematic footprints, but the idea is basically that. On the other hand, I expect great things in which Matt Hardy and Chris Jericho are involved. I don’t think anything can come of it. In my prediction, however, I want to drop a bomb on you: you will win the Inner Circle after Adam Page finally attacks his elite companions, and especially Kenny Omega.
Winner: The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Ortiz, Sanatana and Sammy Guevara)
No disqualification and no countout match for the AEW Women’s World Cup: Nyla Rose (c) vs. Hikaru Shida
Analysis: Girls in AEW do great things sometimes, but they often disappoint me. So I don’t know what to expect from this match. It could come up with nice stuff, just as we might be disappointed again. Let’s wait and see. I don’t mind Nyla Rose as champion, I think she will keep the belt and maybe lose it with the Baker in the future.
Winner: Nyla Rose
Single game for the first TNT championship: Cody vs. Lance Archer
Analysis: And here we are in the match I’m most looking forward to in Double or Nothing. Cody and Lance Archer have driven dynamites in the past few weeks and have created some excellent segments, excellent matches and excellent promos. The construction of this game is perfect: the rivalry between the two has been going on for a long time, but I’m not tired of seeing how they confabulate each other. Archer is a character that has a lot of potential and can also boast an important character like Jake Roberts. Cody doesn’t argue he loves what he does. The addition of Mike Tyson, who will be presenting this new TNT championship, was a great move and has shown again that the AEW is not joking. I’ll cheer for Cody, the match is very balanced, but I’m going to win the American nightmare.
Single game for the AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Brodie Lee
Analysis: We have reached the end of what the main event will be. Jon Moxley will defend the AEW World Championship against Brodie Lee. I didn’t like the idea of immediately sending Brodie Lee to the top title. He had made a very impressive debut, I liked the proposed segments, but his character had to be built better before he had such an important chance. Moxley is in a state of grace, he’s doing an excellent job and it would be idiotic to take off his belt now. I’ll cheer him on and if you don’t command the heart I will predict Mox as the winner of the game.
Winner: Jon Moxley
Final comment: If we compare this year’s card with that of Double or Nothing in 2019, there is a miserable difference in my opinion. Unfortunately, there have been a lot of problems recently due to COVID-19, and despite everything, the AEW didn’t stop and let the “hut” run without the presence of fans. Congratulations to them for the passion they have put in all of our shows. I hope to see a great PPV, the conditions are there anyway: Between the ladder match, the Stadium Stampede and Cody against Lance Archer it will be necessary to raise the table without hands. Watch out for possible debuts, I get chills when I think about what Moxley did a year ago. I think I said everything. What can I say, good PPV at all!
